Who we are
Dave Balfe
Managing Director, Tom’s Pallets
Dave Balfe is the Managing Director of Tom’s Pallets.
With a background in the building industry, Dave took over the business in 2010 following the passing of his father, Tom, who originally founded the operation.
Drawing on his father’s entrepreneurial spirit, Dave has grown the company from a sole trader model into a fully integrated business, employing a strong team across labour, transport, and logistics. Under his leadership, Tom’s Pallets has expanded its capabilities to include the restoration, recycling, and production of timber pallets to meet the evolving needs of customers throughout Queensland.
Committed to supporting the state’s circular economy, Dave has driven investments in automation and sustainable practices, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and reducing waste.
By extending the lifecycle of timber pallets and offering economical, eco-friendly alternatives for freight and storage, Tom’s Pallets plays a crucial role in promoting responsible resource use within the transport and logistics sector.
Dave remains deeply connected to the company’s origins, naming the business in honour of his father and mentor. He continues to lead with a strong sense of purpose, guided by the values of hard work, innovation, and community contribution.
